... yes you!
We are now recruiting student programmers for spring, summer and fall 2011. If you are a UNM student, email lobogrwl@unm.edu to find out how YOU can have your very own show.
Get Your Own Show - FAQ:
What are the first steps to getting my own show?
1) Send us a quick email from your UNM email account with the following info:
* Your name
* Potential title of show
* Length and frequency of show
* Category (music, comedy, talk, mix, other)
* Describe your idea, the show's content, and what might make it unique to Lobo Growl's line up.
2) The Programming crew at Lobo Growl will review your proposal and send you an email of enthusiastic acceptance. We want all interested UNM students to have the opportunity to produce their own internet radio show, and will work with you to make this happen. If you need a sounding board for your idea, or the proposal needs tweeking, we're here to help.
3) Record a pilot episode on your personal computer and upload it to Lobo Growl.
What equipment do I need to record shows on my computer?
All you need is a mic (you can check one out from us), and recording software such as Garage Band or Adobe Audition.
What restrictions are there are program content, if any?
As an internet radio station, we are not governed by FCC policies against profanity, so you can do stuff that would not be okay on regular radio waves, like drop the f-bomb or play songs with drug references before 10pm. However certain things, such as hate speech, are prohibited. Read our complete Programming Policy here.
I've never done this kind of thing before. Can you show me what to do??
Definitely. In fact, most of us are totally new to this! You will learn all you need to know to create and broadcast a show on LoboGrowl.org.
Do I have to physically be at the station when my show is on the air?
Nope. Your show can be pre-recorded and uploaded without you having to set foot in the station.
Can I record my show in your studio?
Absolutely, you may use our humble studio to produce your show. However, access to our studio is limited due to its current location, so home-based production is greatly preferred.
Why should I produce a show for Lobo Growl?
As a student programmer, you will be gaining valuable experience in web broadcasting and working with a dynamic and diverse group of students who are passionate about music and radio. You will be getting in on the ground floor of a new organization that is here to stay, and have an opportunity to shape the direction of our station as much (or as little) as you wish. Plus, hearing your voice (or your music) on air is FUN!
